The Mountain Leader Specialists

Course dates and prices

Jonathan Preston BMG, MIC

Jonathan is well known in climbing circles and is a prolific new-router, particularly in winter. He has climbed abroad extensively, and, as an IFMGA guide, spends the summer working in the European Alps.

We are very please to be associated with the following key staff members. All are of the highest calibre and have worked with us many times over the years.

Malcolm ‘Ginge’ Lee MBE, MIC

Ginge has a huge amount of experience of working as an MIC. For many years he ran the RAF's fitness training programme and helped countless others to jump out of aeroplanes. He has since gone on to enjoy time out of the RAF, and divides his time between having fun and having fun climbing.

Ginge is a Course Director for SML and SPA training and assessment courses and for WML training.

Louisa Reynolds MIC

Louisa can be found working on a number of our SML, WML and SPA training and assessment courses. She is a Course Director for the Summer Mountain Leader training courses. If we can't find her at any time we can always track her down up a route somewhere, in a kayak or skiing.

Paula Griffin SPA

Paula is an all-round climber, but works mainly on our SPA training courses. Very happy climbing at crags in the UK, she is equally happy clipping bolts in the sunshine on European rock!

Chris Pretty MIA, WML

Although Chris lives in the flatlands south of the Border, he is frequently in the Scottish hills getting involved in all sorts of high-jinks. Pete always says that the best climbing day of his life was with Chris, which is probably why they get on so well!

Sandy Paterson MIC

Sandy comes from a teaching background and has been working in the mountains for many years, both as a freelance and as an associate member at Glenmore Lodge. Apart from working as a mountain instructor at the top level, Sandy is also the NE Scotland area rep for the Association of Mountaineering Instructors.

Kevin Rutherford MIC

Kevin has been working as an MIC for a number of years. An associate with Glenmore Lodge, Kevin enjoys spending his time walking and climbing across the Scottish Highlands, as well as a number of raids into areas abroad.
