The RCDI Award is available to candidates who hold the SPA or RCI awards and whom comply with the requirements for attending the RCDI course.
Eventual holders of the RCDI are qualified to teach lead climbing to clients on single pitch crags in the UK and Republic of Ireland

The RCDI Award is administered by the MTUK through home nation boards. As a nation-wide award, it is quite acceptable for those registered with, for instance, the MTE to be trained and assessed by an MTS registered provider. It is also fine to be trained and assessed by the same provider. Registration on the scheme is a pre-requirement for the courses, contact MTS (01690 720272) for a prospectus and syllabus.

The RCDI training course is held over four days, either consecutively or over two weekends. It covers all the aspects detailed in the syllabus and is very practical-based.

The RCDI assessment course is for those who have completed the RCDI training or who have successfully applied for, and gained, exemption.
This three-day course will assess the candidate's ability to comply with the syllabus requirements and will be practical-based with a pre-course theory paper being sent out some time before the start date.
